The Super Kings lost the toss and opted to bat (CSK) Rituraj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, Jadeja and Shivam Dubey put on 169 for the second wicket. Gaikwad became Chennai’s top scorer with 73 off 48 balls, including five fours and five sixes. Ambati Rayudu scored 46 off 31 balls while skipper Jadeja added 22 off 12 balls.

In reply, Gujarat’s victory was sparked by a sparkling innings by David Miller and Rashid Khan. David Miller (94 off 54 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes) led the Gujarat Titans to victory with 40 off 21 balls. Shubhman Gill (0), Vijay Shankar (0), Saha (11), Rahul Tewatia (6) and Abhinav Manohar (12) were all out for 87/6. Miller and Rashid then made their presence felt at the crease and batted to victory.
With this, the Gujarat Titans are at the top of the table with 10 points from six matches. The Titans won their fifth match against Chennai in six matches. The reigning champions, who have won just one of their last six matches, are ninth with a fifth defeat. Chennai Indians are the only team behind Mumbai Indians who have not won a single match.
