Kochi – The person who first called ‘cut’ to power cut, which was the bane of the electricity department, was former KSEB chairman T.M. beautiful Manoharan, who has served as the Chairman of the Electricity Board for seven years twice, is the longest serving Chairman of the Electricity Board in the country. Manoharan, who is also a management expert in the power sector, became the chairman of the board and focused more on bringing more cohesion and order in the department. Thus he was also known as ‘Mr Perfect’ in the electricity department.

At the beginning of his tenure as chairman, there were grumblings in the department about Manoharan’s strictness. But after asking the personal information of the employees and finding out everything, he became their favorite. Manoharan, a post graduate in Chemistry from IIT Madras, completed his IFS in 1976 and rose to the highest rank in the Forest Department.
When the chief came to the forest department on the model of the police, Manahar was the first to occupy that position. Mapping of ecologically sensitive areas in Kerala was strictly implemented when he was the head of the forest department. Despite getting IPS, Manoharan chose Forest Service because of his passion for Forest Department.
Manohar’s IPS training was with former IG Somraj and others. Later, even after reaching the forest department, he maintained a close relationship with them. He had a close personal relationship with his subordinates by lovingly interfering in even the smallest matters. At the same time, corruption of any kind was not allowed.
The methods of promotion in the Forest Department, which had been lying dormant, were systematized during Manohar’s time. Manoharan maintained personal relations with leaders irrespective of party politics. A.K. Antony, Oommen Chandy, V.S. Achuthanandan was the chairman of the board during the ministries. Worked under four Power Ministers. He was also closely related to the current Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He became the Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission in January 2013.
