“There is still work to do”. Questioned, Thursday December 7 on Franceinfo, about a letter recently sent to him by the prefect of the Île-de-France region and in which the latter notes the unpreparedness of public transport in the Ile-de-France region in the run-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games ( JOP) of the summer of 2024, the Minister for Transport, Clément Beaune recognized that“there are still lines, additional shuttles to organize, reinforcement of offers to organize”.
In his letter, the contents of which were revealed by the chained Duck On Wednesday, the prefect of the region mentioned worrying tensions and the fact that in certain places, the transport plan will not allow spectators to be transported because of the saturation threshold which will be regularly exceeded.
He thus anticipates saturation for 68% of metro lines and 100% of RER lines, considering that this congestion will occur despite “reinforcements planned” by Ile-de-France mobilities (IDFM) with replacement buses.
The prefect also points out the fact that“in certain places, the transport plan [tel qu’il est prévu durant les JOP] only allows spectators to be transported if all the other travelers were dissuaded or almost all” to move.

Reduced or spread out festive events
“The commitments we made will be kept”assured Mr. Beaune, who cites “15% additional transport offer” in order to be able to transport “800,000 spectators every day who will have to go to the sites by public transport”.
“We made a very important commitment for the Games, it will be keptrepeated Mr. Beaune. All spectators for all Olympic and Paralympic venues will be able to get there by public transport. We are recruiting, we are investing, things are better than last year”even if there is “certain lines where it is still very difficult”.

The Minister for Transport explains, however, that a certain number “festive events which were planned by the committee” organization of the Games will be reduced or spread out so as not to cause a “overload of the public transport network”.
If the prefect of the Ile-de-France region does not rule out the possibility of the establishment of a “Olympic confinement” for Ile-de-France residents, Mr. Beaune, for his part, invites them to “organize yourself a little differently during this period” of the JOP.
“We will launch a whole precise information campaign from January”he adds, while declaring, from now on, that “for those who can, not everyone” it will be better to do “no more teleworking” et “Take your leave instead during this period”.
On November 14, Mr. Beaune had already promised Ile-de-France residents travel conditions « hardcore » during the JOP.
