Valencia, June 19 (EFE).- The Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, has said that denying violence against women is “denying the evidence, denying science, denying a problem we have, a scourge” and has denounced the discourse of “science deniers who end up in denial of climate change or gender inequality.”

This is how Morant has considered it in statements to the media, asked about the words of the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, who has described gender violence as “an ideological concept.”

For Morant, inequality due to gender issues “exists” and “science also says this”, so denying this reality is “denying science”: “Denying the evidence is the first step to not doing anything to solve the issues”.

The minister, who has participated in Gandia (Valencia) in the inauguration of a mural in homage to the astronaut Sara García-Alonso, within the “Dones de ciència” project, has opted for initiatives like this one, which “tell girls that They can be astronauts, they can be scientists, they can be whatever they want, because they are women they are not designed differently than boys and they don’t have a different future than boys either.”

“This is important to say from politics, because from politics and by example is when we make references exist, and I hope that these political references win over the backward policies that we are already seeing and that will surely be implemented here in the Comunitat Valencian”, has indicated.

Morant has denounced the government agreement of a PP “which has also embraced, without any doubt, the policies and discourses of the extreme right” with Vox to govern the Generalitat.

“Today we heard Abascal absolutely deny once again not only gender violence, but the existence of inequality itself due to gender issues, and Feijóo has embraced the ultra-right: we have seen it in more than 140 city councils that have already been constituted with governments of PP and Vox”, he lamented.

Therefore, Diana Morant has considered, “there are only two alternatives in our country: either more Pedro Sánchez and more progress policies, or a Feijóo government with Abascal as vice president.”

“The worst image or the worst example of inequality is violence against women, a violence for which around 60 women die, murdered at the hands of their partners or their ex-partners,” claimed Morant, who has detailed that there are already In Spain, “1,200 women with their orphaned children, many families who have been victims of this violence”, have been counted.

The minister has also affirmed that “in the rest of Europe a sanitary cordon is placed on these speeches” and that “the moderate right in Europe puts a sanitary cordon on the extreme right”, but in Spain the PP, “for the armchairs” , has broken “completely with that pact against gender violence.”

“The alarming thing is not that Abascal says it, the alarming thing is to have the confirmation that Feijóo will govern with a vice president who is Abascal if we do not prevent it on July 23,” he highlighted.EFE
