On the sidelines of the 29th special session of the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, held in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, the Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdel Samad Guio, held a working meeting with the Minister of Transport of the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Chahoubi.
According to the Moroccan Ministry of Transport, “The two parties praised the quality and excellence of the ties of brotherhood and cooperation that bring together the Kingdom of Morocco and the sisterly Republic of Libya. They also stressed the common will to develop cooperation in areas related to the transport sector.”
Al-Shahoubi expressed, “his country’s desire to restore air connectivity between the two countries, in order to encourage and strengthen connectivity and economic exchange between Morocco and Libya, and to contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields.”
He added, “His country intends to engage in any initiative to open a maritime line between the two countries to encourage exchanges between the two countries.”
For his part, Qayuh stressed, “The Ministry’s readiness to work to develop bilateral cooperation in the transportation sector between the two countries.”
The two parties agreed to “intensify the meetings of the bilateral technical committees to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries, in addition to exchanging experiences and expertise in the fields of transportation.”
It is noteworthy that “air traffic between the two countries has stopped since February 2015 when the Moroccan authorities imposed security restrictions that included preventing Libyan aircraft from entering the Kingdom’s airspace.”
