“I had the phone nearby but I didn’t expect it. I was very happy when the news came”. So declares Giorgio Parisi, an Italian physicist, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. “It is an important recognition for Italian science because it was a long time since it went to an Italian and above all to a research carried out in Italy. It is an acknowledgment to the whole Italian Academy because you work in a group, a scientist is not a Island”. Professor Parisi explains again. “Science in this pandemic year was fundamental, without it we would not have had the vaccines and we would not be where we are now.”
