Today, Friday, the delegation of the national youth football team leaves for the Jordanian capital, Amman, to participate in the eleventh West Asian Football Federation Championship, which will be held there during the period from (2-11) September.

The correspondent of the (INA) stated that “the West Asian Championship competitions will be held with the participation of nine teams distributed into three groups. Our team will play in the first group alongside the hosts and Lebanon, while the teams of Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Oman will be in the second group, and the teams of Bahrain, Syria and Palestine will be in the third group.”
He added, “Our national team will play its first match in the tournament against its Lebanese counterpart at five o’clock in the afternoon next Wednesday, and will conclude the group stage against Jordan on the sixth of September. According to the tournament system designated for the age group born in 2008-2010, the first round will be held in a single-stage league system, and the first team in each group will qualify, along with the best team that comes in second place, to the semi-finals, and then the two winners will qualify for the final match.”
It is noteworthy that the West Asian Federation had previously confirmed to the participating federations its right to conduct examinations and x-rays to verify the eligibility of players within the age group designated for the tournament, at the time it deems appropriate, and according to the appropriate mechanism, within the general framework of the Asian Federation’s instructions in this regard.
The Asian qualifiers draw placed our youth team in Group Five, alongside Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei and Palestine.
