jpnn.comJAKARTA – Polda Metro Jaya carried out a medium-scale operation to prevent brawls among teenagers under the pretext of being open on the road during Ramadan.

Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto said that to make Jakarta safer, the phenomenon of sahur on the road could have been suppressed, but now it has changed to opening on the road.

“Such conditions are our homework together with the TNI and Satpol PP to carry out medium-scale patrols,” said Inspector General Karyoto when met in Jakarta, Monday (1/4).

This two-star general explained what this meant when police officers and other officers met a number of teenagers carrying out a convoy, it did not rule out the possibility of immediate arrest.

“Scale patrols are being carried out to find out directly on the spot and if we can secure them and it turns out they really have the intention to fight, we will give them strict sanctions,” said Karyoto.

According to him, the police first made a report as the basis for the perpetrator committing a violation of the law, namely referring to Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning beatings and Article 406 concerning damage and destruction of property.

Apart from that, Karyoto will also coordinate with the DKI Jakarta Education Department to be able to give strict sanctions to students who are proven to have carried out brawls.

“Hopefully this will be heard by our younger siblings and parents so that supervision over their children will really be stricter. Moreover, if it is truly a crime, it will definitely be on the police record, which means they will not provide good recommendations,” he said.
