The World Bank has offered to help Sri Lanka as it faces a severe economic crisis. It has decided to provide Rs 4,500 crore for the next four months.

Due to the severe economic crisis, there is a shortage of all essential commodities throughout Sri Lanka, including food and fuel. The Sri Lankan government is in the throes of an economic crisis and is seeking the help of various organizations to deal with it.

Ali Sabri, the country’s finance minister, visited Washington to discuss the issue with international monetary officials. He later said in a video conference that he had requested the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to provide emergency financial assistance to Sri Lanka and hoped that the assistance would be available in a short time.

Earlier, he had said that the World Bank would provide Rs. 4,500 crore to Sri Lanka over the next four months for the purchase of essential commodities, including medicines.
