The Council of Ministers approved this on the proposal of President Mario Draghi. In addition to the author of “Superwoobinda”, the check will also go to the chef Silvano Orlando and the opera singer Emiko Kubota

On Monday 6 June he received a phone call from the Minister for Public Administration, Renato Brunetta. A phone call that we imagine pleased the writer, poet and screenwriter Aldo Nove (1967), who had applied for the annuity of the Bacchelli law. Life annuity which on Monday was approved in his favor by the Council of Ministers, on the proposal of President Mario Draghi.

The so-called Bacchelli law was promulgated in 1985 by the Craxi government: it consists of a fund “in favor of illustrious citizens who are in a state of need” and who, thanks to a state annuity, can face and overcome some practical difficulties. The Bacchelli on Monday 6 also went to Silvano Orlandichef and pastry chef of VIPs, and the soprano of Japanese origins Emiko Kubota.

The annuity to Nove (real name is Antonio Centanin) was granted because the writer was suddenly struck by a serious illness that put him in a situation in which he is no longer able to work. On the advice of some friends, the dearest ones – the Greek scholar, editor, translator Nicola Crocetti and the artist Mimmo Paladino – Nove applied for the Bacchelli law and managed to obtain it.

Writer and poet, a degree in Philosophy, a stranger to any label, Aldo Nove since his first works – let’s think about Woobinda and other stories with no happy ending for Castelvecchi of 1996 – he has always distinguished himself for an original, ironic, counter-current tone, a raw language and a style that is always and in any case captivating. Difficult to classify, even if for a period it was associated with the vein of pulp. His eclecticism led him to write for cinema and theater as well. From his The obscene life (Einaudi, 2011) Renato De Maria made a film with the same title.

Nove’s production is vast: he published for Mondadori, Crocetti, The ship of Teseo and Bompianifor which four years ago he wrote The professor of Viggiù (the town in the province of Varese where he was born).

It should also be remembered Nove’s poetic vein. Which had made its debut in 1989 with the poetry collection Back in your bloodcurated by Milo De Angelis (for the Edizioni del Leone), confirming his talent with Fire on Babylon! (Crocetti, 2003) and with the four titles for the white Einaudi series.
In 2020 he published the biography of Franco Battiato for Sperling & Kupfer. In this period Nove is in Calabriaguest of a friend who assists him during the period of convalescence.
