The Tobruk Passport Investigation Department announced the arrest of a citizen selling his family registration procedures for their national numbers to Egyptian expatriates in exchange for sums of money.

The Passport Investigation Department branch said that this incident was discovered after they received reports from citizens that someone had photographed their national numbers, and they discovered this when they went to photograph, according to the branch.

The branch added that through investigation and information gathering, a 57-year-old Libyan citizen residing in the buildings of the Al-Zuhur neighborhood was caught selling procedures in his family’s names in cooperation with another Libyan wanted in a previous case.

The branch reported that the accused admitted during his investigation that he had given the registration number to a person in exchange for a sum of money estimated at 5,000 dinars, confirming that he would be referred to the competent authorities for action.

The Tobruk Passport Investigation Department branch announced a few days ago that it had revealed the details of an incident of forgery of documents [الهوية الليبية] For a group of people holding Egyptian nationality, with the help of a gang formation consisting of 4 people holding Libyan nationality.

The branch indicated that the events of this crime took place in 2008 AD. They obtained family booklets, passports, and personal cards, and then national numbers for each family, for 7 families consisting of several individuals who have national numbers.
