September 15 is Democracy Day and, for this reason, a film-forum was held in four educational establishments, namely: ‘Capitán Edmundo Chiriboga’, ‘Chambo’, ‘Santo Tomás Apóstol Riobamba’ and ‘ Providence’. Today, Democracy Day.

In these schools, it was announced about the optional vote to which young people between 16 and seventeen years old, who study in educational schools, are entitled.

The director of the CNE in Chimborazo, Darwin Jarrín, said that the events with the students were a good opportunity to raise awareness about participatory and representative democracy. The young people of the city of Riobamba and the ‘Magical Province’ of Chimborazo can learn what democracy and participation are, and also learn about fundamental topics, such as optional voting.

Coordination of activities

The activities are carried out in coordination with the national CNE and the Institute of Democracy, which is attached to the rector of democracy.

This Friday, September 15, a national program is held for Democracy Day, and the Chimborazo Delegation is linked.

With respect to the second electoral round, the CNE applies a calendar approved by its plenary session, and from this Friday until October 15, training will be given to the members of the vote receiving boards. In the province there are 8,946, those who were trained in person in the first electoral round will be able to do it virtually or in person. On the other hand, those who did not receive training the first time have to do it in person at the CNE offices in Riobamba. The campaign will officially begin on the 24th of this month until October 12.

The debate between the finalists, Luisa González and Daniel Noboa, will be on Sunday, October 1, from 7:00 p.m. It will last two hours, with a single moderator. Jarrín said that, to date, they have finished paying the twenty dollars to all the members of the vote receiving boards.
