Artemisa is ready for the election this Sunday, May 28, of its governor and lieutenant governor; As established by Law no. 127, Electoral Lawof July 13, 2019, and the provisions of the Council of State, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic.

At 9:00 a.m., the 11 municipal assemblies of People’s Power, with their delegates, will constitute electoral colleges to proceed, at the proposal of the President of the Republic, to elect (by free, equal, direct and secret vote) the maximum representatives of the government in the territory, for a period of five years. It is the second time that the delegates of the municipal assemblies of all of Cuba will elect the governor and deputy governor, after the approval of the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba in 2019.

Artemisa newspaper will offer details of what happened this day in each town of the territory.


Sagebrush

With 93.85 attendance and the presence of Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, Commander of the Revolution and deputy from Artemisa, the assembly of municipal delegates from Villa Roja met to elect the provincial government.

Ana Teresa Igarza, general director of the Mariel Development Zone and deputy to the National Assembly for Artemisa, was appointed by the Council of State to present the proposals for Governor and Lieutenant Governor to the delegates of the main municipality.

The meeting was also attended by Gladys Martínez Verdecia, a member of the Political Bureau and first secretary of the Provincial Party Committee in Artemisa.



Güira de Melena

The Municipal Assembly of the Popular Power of Güira de Melena, represented by its 43 delegates, participated in the elective process of the Governor and Vice Governor of the Artemisa Province, according to Law no. 127, Electoral Law.
Osmin Benítez, President of the Municipal Electoral Council, reported that of the 43 delegates that make up the Assembly, 42 delegates attended for 97%, figures that reflect conformity and commitment to the revolutionary cause. The development of the suffrage demonstrates the previous existing preparation.


Mariel

On the morning of this Sunday, the 54 delegates to the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Mariel participated in the process of electing the governor and deputy governor of our province.
At the beginning of the session -which took place at the Máximo Gómez Báez Thermoelectric Power Plant- Laida Madruga Veguería, president of the Municipal Electoral Council, reported that 100 percent of the Marieleños delegates attended the meeting, as proof of their commitment to each process. Meanwhile, Yudelkis La O Castellano, deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power for Mariel, proceeded to read the biographies of the candidates.
We attended more than a vote, an act of revolutionary reaffirmation, in tune with the current moments that the country is experiencing, said Carlos Vladimir Balsinde Vázquez, delegate of the Boca Mojica Henequén popular council, after being informed of the results of the scrutiny.

Votes for all: 51 (96, 23 percent)
Votes for governor: 52 (98.11 percent)

San Antonio de los Banos

Starting at 9 in the morning, the Delegates of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power meet in San Antonio de los Baños to elect the Governor and Vice Governor. Of 54 delegates, 53 participated for a 98.1 ℅ attendance. This process is chaired by Ivón Álvarez Gonzáles, Deputy to the National Assembly, and Lourdes Alcachar, President of the Municipal Electoral Council.

By a majority of votes for San Antonio de los Baños with the total number of valid votes, Ricardo Concepción Rodríguez was re-elected as Governor with 53 votes, for 98.1, and Yamina Duarte Duarte, as Vice Governor with 50 votes for 92.59 of the Total valid tickets.

The election of the provincial governor and lieutenant governor is held every five (5) years, on the same day and time throughout the national territory, on the date determined by the Council of State, which in turn informs the National Electoral Council. The delegates to the municipal assemblies of the People’s Power meet by their own right constituted in electoral colleges on the date set, in the place agreed upon, to elect, through a free, equal, direct and secret vote, the provincial governor and deputy governor. .

The proposal for each position is sent by the President of the Republic, in advance of the date set for their election, to the President of the National Electoral Council, accompanied by the biographies and photos of the candidates.

as in all Cuba, the delegates of the municipality of Alquízar elect today the governor and lieutenant governor. Gathered in the theater of the Rubén Martínez Villena Pedagogical School, the 37 delegates will exercise their right to a free, equal, direct and secret vote, in order to elect the highest representatives of the government in the Province for a period of five years.

The presentation of the candidacy was in charge of Yurisa Lahera Mansfarroll, member of the State Council, and Second Head of the Social Workers Unit, Municipal Directorate of Labor and Social Security, Alquízar.

The meeting was attended by Alejandro Gil Fernández, Deputy Prime Minister Vice Prime Minister of the Government and Deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power.


Worship

With 96.4 percent attendance, the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in the Bauta municipality elects the Governor and Vice Governor of the province. This is made up of 56 delegates, who had access to the biographies of the candidates to be elected.

The 55 delegates that make up the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power of the municipality came to vote, for 100% attendance, reflecting the transparency of the Cuban electoral process and in accordance with Electoral Law No. 127.

Guanajay

In Guanajay, 42 delegates participate in the process to elect the governor and vice-governor of the province of Artemisa.

From very early on, the conditions were created as established by the electoral procedure to successfully carry out the vote (Electoral Law 127 of June 13, 2019).

The delegates, gathered in their own right, learned about the characteristics of these elections that take place every five years, and were accompanied by the highest authorities of Villa Blanca.


San Cristobal

The Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in San Cristóbal meets this morning in an extraordinary way with the purpose of electing the Governor and Vice Governor of the Artemisa province.

Yilian Álvarez Costa, deputy to the Cuban Parliament for the town, presented to the attendees the proposals of candidates: Ricardo Concepción Rodríguez and Yamina Duarte Duarte.

The 98 delegates present out of the 107 that the Assembly has, exercised their vote in the places established for this purpose, while another three, hospitalized, were guaranteed their participation in the vote with the requirements established for the process.

After the scrutiny, it emerged that Ricardo Concepción Rodríguez obtained 90 votes as governor, and Yamina Duarte Duarte reached 92 as lieutenant governor.


Honda Bay

In the presence of the delegates of the Municipal Assembly of Popular Power of Bahía Honda, Deputy Aylin Álvarez García, member of the Central Committee and First Secretary of the National Committee of the UJC, presented the candidacy to then proceed to the voting to elect the Governor and Vice Governor of the province of Artemisa.

Also present Lázaro Yoanys Arozarena Saez, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party and
Yutkenia Martínez Cordero, first secretary of the Municipal Party Committee.


Candelaria

With the presentation of the candidates for governor and lieutenant governor of Artemisa, in the voice of Gladys Peña Hernández, deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power, Candelaria gave way to one more Sunday of elections to complete the two main positions of the Government at the provincial level.

In the assembly in Candelaria, in the presence of the top leaders of the Party and the government in that municipality and the also deputy to Parliament Idalys Ortiz Bocourt, the 35 delegates exercised their right to vote in ballot boxes guarded -as usual- by members of the Organization of Pioneers José Martí.

Like the rest of the 10 Artemisa municipalities, the biographies of Ricardo Concepción Rodríguez and Yamina Duarte Duarte made clear their service record by and for the people, while the ballots with their names are part of a democratic exercise to ratify them or not in their functions, which is only confirmed after scrutiny in the electoral commissions created for that purpose.
