Mahmudur Rahman Manna, President of Nagorika Oikya said, We will not give any approval to this government. Our fight against this government will continue. Sometimes many people say that they have been fighting for many years, but they couldn’t do it. I am saying, yesterday I could not, today I can. I couldn’t today, I can tomorrow, the fight will continue. Until we defeat them, there is no stopping, no compromise.

He said these things at a rally organized by the Democracy Forum in front of the National Press Club on Friday (June 5) in protest against various MoUs against the interests of the country executed during the recent visit of the Prime Minister to India. Later, they protested to demand cancellation of the agreement.

Addressing the activists, Mahmudur Rahman Manna said that the democracy stage will not make any compromise with the corrupt, characterless and usurpers. We will not make any misleading movements. I will hide the main problems and confuse people by bringing another problem… I will not do such a thing. We are trying to build a movement based on a specific program. We have not deviated from the path. And you will not be freed without a fight. So, you all have to do this fight to survive.

He also alleged that all the interests of Bangladesh have been washed away during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent visit to India.

Jonaid Saki, the coordinator of the Democracy Forum and the chief coordinator of the Mass Solidarity Movement, said that the Prime Minister himself said that if we give the Bay of Bengal and St. Martin, then we can stay in power. Now we can ask the question… this is in power without voting, what are you in exchange for? What things in Bangladesh have been handed over to whom? Our leaders and activists have clearly said that corridors are being given to India in the name of transit.

India may have demand, Jonaid Saki said, noting that it is very difficult to move from one region of India to another. They may ask for corridors. But, our government is saying, transit is saying. Call it a corridor.

The convener of Bhasani Anusari Parishad, veer freedom fighter Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, also spoke at the rally—Bangladesh Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, State Reform Movement Chief Coordinator Hasnat Qayyum, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Senior Vice President Tanya Rob and others.
