TODAY in Frauensee – donate blood around Bad Salzungen 17.8.-19.8.22 – Rhön Canal

by time news

The most important argument why people donate blood to the German Red Cross is that they can help other people in medical emergencies.

But a blood donation is also healthy for the donor – in many ways. Doctors at the Charité Berlin, for example, found out in a study that regular blood donations improve blood pressure.

This blood pressure-lowering effect lasted for up to six weeks and has serious consequences, because even small reductions in blood pressure can protect against cardiovascular disease or reduce the risk of a stroke.

In an additional survey, the study participants also stated that they felt more productive and generally felt better through donating blood regularly.

Prof. Dr. Andreas Michalsen, who was involved in the implementation of the study, also suspects on the basis of further evaluations of the results that “that regular blood donors are less likely to catch colds than non-blood donors and have an increased immune system.”
