Veteran musician Ayub Bachchu. This artist passed away on October 18, 2018. No one could accept his move. Friday (August 16) is his birthday. Had he lived, he would have been showered with wishes and love from fans. AB Kitchen Studio in the city might have been buzzing with the presence of loved ones. Even though Ayub Bachchu is not alive, his fans and well-wishers are remembering the beloved artist on social media.

Ayub Bachchu was born on August 16, 1962 in Kharna Union of Patia Upazila of Chittagong. His father is Ishaq Chodhuri. Mother Nurjahan Begum. He grew up in a noble Muslim family. No one in Ayub Bachchu’s family was associated with music. Not even any of his siblings. But Ayub Bachchu was addicted to playing the guitar since childhood.

As far as is known, Ayub Bachchu was first infected with the guitar after watching Jimi Hendrix. His music career started in 1977. In 1978 he joined the band Feelings. His first song was ‘Harano Bickeler Khobi’. Then joined Soulse. He was associated with the band for the entire decade from 1980 onwards.

After leaving Souls, he formed a new band, LRB, in 1991. At first the full meaning of LRB was Little River Band. As there was another band in Australia with this name, it was later changed to Love Runs Blind.

This unique artist of the new style of Bengali song has given voice in many films. For example: ‘Lal Badsha’ and ‘Ammajan’ in 1999, ‘Gunda Number One’ in 2000, ‘Bachelor’ and ‘Rang Number’ in 2004, ‘Wife Like the Moon’ in 2009, ‘Chorabali’ in 2012, ‘Television’ in 2013. ‘ and ‘A Cup of Tea’ in 2014 etc. His song ‘Ammajan’ is one of the most popular songs in the history of Bengali cinema.

His first solo album was released in 1986 titled ‘Raktolaap Name’. And LRB’s first album was ‘LRB’ (1992). Then ‘Bander Sukh’ (1993), ‘Taboo’ (1994), ‘Sleeping City’ (1995), ‘Ferrari Mind’, ‘Swapn’, 1996, ‘Aram Bismay’ (1998), ‘Man Chahe Man Pabe’ (2000), ‘Achena Jeeban’ (2003), ‘Mane Khedi Naki Nei’ (2005), ‘Sparsh’ (2008), ‘Juddha’ (2012) were released.

The solo albums after Raktagolap include ‘Maina’ (1988), ‘Kasht’ (1995), ‘Samy’ (1998), ‘Eka’ (1999), ‘Prem Tumi Ki!’ (2002); 2006), ‘Sound of Silence’ (Instrumental, 2007), ‘Rimjhim Rishti’ (2008), ‘Bolini Kabhi’ (2009), ‘Jivan’s Story’ (2015).

Apart from that, Ayub Bachchu has worked in many mixed albums. The band LRB and the Feelings teamed up for two albums in the 90’s called ‘Capsule’ and ‘Screwdriver’.
