Navy Day is celebrated in India today (December 4). This day is observed to commemorate the role of the Navy in the security of the country, the capabilities of the Indian Navy, the achievements of the Navy and the achievements of the 1971 India-Pakistan war, ‘Operation Trident’.

Photo exhibitions, blood donation camps and an opportunity for visitors to see the warship have been organized throughout the week to coincide with Navy Day. For the first time in its history this year, the premier Navy Day event is being held outside the capital Delhi as ships, submarines and special forces from the Eastern, Western and Southern navies will showcase the strength of the Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam today. Anchored ships are displayed with light decorations. President Drarubathi Murmu will be the Chief Guest of the event.

On the occasion of Navy Day, Prime Minister Modi sent his greetings to all the Indian Navy through Twitter. “Happy Navy Day to all Coast Guardsmen and their families. Living in India, we are proud of the rich history of the Navy. Indian Navy is protecting our nation with utmost determination. It is distinguished by its humane spirit in challenging times.” Prime Minister Modi said.

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his congratulations on Twitter. In it, he said, “The Indian Navy is at the forefront of preventing crime, ensuring maritime security and keeping our country safe.”
