Today is the 46th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal. The then President Ziaur Rahman established this organization on this day in 1978 with the aim of empowering women.
On the occasion of the foundation anniversary, wreaths were laid and Fateha was recited at the grave of Ziaur Rahman in Sherbangla Nagar of the capital on Monday (September 9) morning.
At that time, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was present as the chief guest. Begum Selima Rahman, a member of the Standing Committee and Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain will be present as special guest.
Mahila Dal president Afroza Abbas and general secretary Sultana Ahmed were also present in the organization’s central and Dhaka metropolitan branches.
Regarding the program of the foundation anniversary, Mahila Dal’s general secretary Sultana Ahmed said, due to severe floods in the eastern part of the country, the foundation anniversary of the Mahila Dal is being celebrated on a limited scale. Mahila Dal leaders and activists are now standing next to the flood-affected people with relief materials.
