BOLZANO. Today, at 11.30, new meeting of the Autonomy Table in Rome. Yesterday both the Honorable Alessandro Urzì and the vice-president of the Province, Marco Galateo, were at Atreju, the Fratelli d’Italia party which took place in the capital. With them also a party delegation from Trentino Alto Adige. Just a quick greeting with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

“There wasn’t much time, given the thousands of people who were present,” says Galateo. President Arno Kompatscher hopes that today the work of the technical table on the reform of the Statute will be concluded. “The government representatives agreed,” he confirms. The objective, he continues, is to «agree as much as possible where possible and, if there remain unresolved issues, to note them down and report the positions of the government and the autonomy».

The president of the Commission of Six Alessandro Urzì also delivered some additional proposals: from the theme of four years of residence in order to be able to vote to Italian representation in the municipal and provincial councils. Primary objective for the SVP: the restoration of the competences provided for by the 1992 Statute of Autonomy. Because – as President Kompatscher underlined several times – «after the reform of Title V of the Constitution in 2001, the Constitutional Court interpreted some competences in a transversal, making the state rule prevail even where there would have been a prerogative of Bolzano”. Therefore the heart of the reform, already contained in the first proposal brought to the Prime Minister, was and is the elimination of the limits placed on the primary legislative competences of the Province
