JAKARTA – Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Attorney General’s Office (AGO) summoned the former Minister of Trade (Mendag) Muhammad Lutfi today, Wednesday (9/8/2023). Lutfi was summoned again because he did not fulfill the first summons from the AGO.

Lutfi’s summons was carried out in accordance with the Witness Summons Letter Number: SPS-2615/F.2/Fd.2/08/2023 dated 4 August 2023. Lutfi will be examined as a witness.

“ML as the Former Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia through his attorney confirmed that ML will be present as a witness on Wednesday 9 August 2023,” said the Head of the Head of the Criminal Investigation and Law Office of the Attorney General’s Office Ketut Sumedana quoted, Wednesday (9/8/2023).

Meanwhile, Lutfi will be investigated in connection with the alleged corruption case in the provision of export facilities for Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and its derivatives to the palm oil industry in January 2022-April 2022.

Previously, M Lutfi did not fulfill the summons when he was summoned as a witness on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. He was examined and did not attend the examination because he was accompanying his wife who was receiving treatment.

“ML as the former Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia confirmed that the person concerned was confirmed not to be present because he was accompanying his wife’s treatment,” said Ketut.

In this case, the AGO has named the three corporate suspects Wilmar Group, Permata Hijau Group and Musim Mas Group. Previously investigators had also examined the Coordinating Minister (Menko) for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto on Monday 24 July 2023. Airlangga was being questioned by 46 questions by the Attorney General’s Office investigators.

The examination of Airlangga was carried out after the verdict of the individual defendants as a result of investigation volume 1, was sentenced to different sentences by the Panel of Judges. Former Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade, Indra Sari Wisnu Wardhana; Senior Manager Corporate Affair Permata Hijau Group Stanley MA; Commissioner of PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia.

With this decision, the Attorney General’s Office conducted an examination of Airlangga to explore the policies taken. The policy was explored to find out the cause because the judge had set it at IDR 6.47 trillion.
