This Monday, San Juan businesses will not open their doors. The San Juan Chamber of Commerce reported that on the occasion of the celebration of Commercial Employee Day, the business will close its doors on Monday, September 25. Although “Commercial Employee Day” is celebrated annually on Tuesday, September 26, this year it was agreed to move it to the nearest Monday to allow for the weekend.

The Argentine Federation of Commerce and Services Employees (Faecys) led by Armando Cavalieri had announced a few days ago that it would change the date of the holiday in commemoration of Commercial Employee Day. Originally, the anniversary was remembered on the 26th of this month, however, the union decided that this year it will be celebrated next Monday, September 25. Faecys’ decision goes hand in hand with the intention that workers in the sector have a long weekend of rest. It was finally agreed upon and on Monday, the employees will enjoy their day.

Is Commercial Employee Day a holiday?

After the enactment of Law No. 26,541 in 2009, Commercial Employees’ Day is celebrated every September 26. The standard is ratified by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCT).

In this framework, that day “commercial employees will not perform work, and it will be assimilated to national holidays for all legal purposes,” indicates article 2.
