/ The media coordinator of the Iraqi national team, Mohammed Imad, confirmed that the national team will head to the Emirates this evening, Tuesday, with all its players and technical staff to enter a short training camp.

Imad told Agency, “Our national team’s professional players and coaching staff will join the Emirates from their countries, while our local players will leave Baghdad this evening. Tomorrow, Wednesday, will be the first training session, and they will meet the South Korean team there on the 6th of this month in their last friendly match before entering the Asian Championship competitions in Qatar.”

He added, “The team will head to Qatar after the match against South Korea in order to prepare for the Asian Championship, which will be held in Qatar from the 12th of this month until the 10th of next February.”

The Iraqi national team plays in Group 4 in the Asian Championship, alongside Japan, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The Iraqi national team ended the year 2023 in 63rd place globally, according to the latest FIFA ranking for the month of January.
