The national football team, led by Spaniard Jesus Casas, intensified its training yesterday evening, Friday, by holding a training session at Qatar University Stadium, in preparation for the start of the decisive round of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

A statement by the Football Association, followed by the (INA), stated that “the training session was preceded by a technical lecture on video by coach Jesus Casas, which focused on the methods that can be used in the process of getting the ball out into the opponent’s court.”
The statement added, “The national team will play a friendly match today, Saturday, against the Qatari Al-Waab Club, and the substitutions will be open in this match, with 3 stops, based on Casas’ request; and the match will be closed to the public and the media.”
He explained that “the training took place with the participation of (22) players and in the presence of the President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, the Second Vice President of the Association, Younis Mahmoud, and the member of the Association, Ahmed Al-Moussawi.”
It is noteworthy that the national team is currently training in Qatar, in preparation for the matches against Oman and Kuwait, as part of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
