Baghdad – IA
The matches of the 23rd round of the Iraq Stars League for professional football will begin this afternoon, Sunday, with three matches hosted in the stadiums of Erbil, Maysan, and Basra.
The leaders, Al-Shorta, are visiting Erbil, on a journey fraught with danger, as Al-Qaythar seeks to continue its streak of successive victories, which reached number 5 in the previous round, in order to strengthen its position and move away from the top of the standings. In turn, the northern team aspires to achieve a victory on its home soil and compensate for its loss to Al-Qasim.
In a second match, Al-Kahraba raises the slogan of compensation when it faces its counterpart, Naft Maysan. The Orange team stumbled in the last two tests by losing to Naft and Al-Zawraa, and therefore it hopes that today’s confrontation will be an appropriate opportunity to restore balance. On the other hand, the Knights of the Kingdom are relying on moral motivation following their success in stopping Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya after they were forced to draw in the previous round, in order to achieve a positive result that contributes to their advancement towards a better rank, while the matches of Zakho, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, Al-Talaba and Newroz were postponed.
For its part, Al-Minaa hopes to correct the course when it hosts Karbala, and Al-Safana came out as a loser in the matches between Al-Karkh and Al-Shorta, and it hopes to appear in a different way in today’s match in which it needs the support of its fans in order to return to the path of victories.
The round’s competitions will continue tomorrow, Monday, with Al-Hodood and Al-Naft, and Dohuk with Al-Wasat Oil, and the round will continue next Tuesday when Al-Zawraa hosts its challenger, Basra Naft, and Al-Karkh seeks to win against the Al-Qasim team, and Al-Najaf hopes to continue its distinguished performances by meeting Amanat Baghdad.
