Today, Tuesday, the second stage of the women’s basketball league competitions begins in Dohuk Governorate, and will continue until the thirty-first of this month with the participation of (5) clubs, with two matches being held. The first will bring together the Northern Gas team and Aphrodite at five o’clock in the evening, while the Sennacherib team will meet the Sabis team at seven thirty in the evening.
The correspondent of the (INA) stated that “the matches of the first stage resulted in the emergence of many promising energies that are expected to shine in the coming period, in addition to the fact that the confrontations carried within them a lot of rivalry and excitement, and the evidence is the closeness of the point difference between the participating teams.”
He added, “The first stage also witnessed the presence of professional players in a noticeable way, and this added fun to the matches and contributed greatly to the development of the technical and physical aspects of our local players.”
He explained that “the Central Federation of the game is keen to develop women’s basketball, by holding local tournaments and activities for different age groups.”
It is noteworthy that the first stage competitions, hosted by Ain Kawa Hall in Erbil, ended with the North Gas team leading with eight points, while the Sennacherib team came in second place with (6) points, and the same balance is shared by each
From the Sabis team and the Akkad Ain Kawa team, which come in third and fourth place respectively, while the Aphrodite team is in last place with (4) points.
