Director Ben Stiller and co-stars Adam Scott, John Turturro, Zach Cherry and more talk about their new project, Separation, one of the most anticipated series of the season, which premieres today on Apple TV+.

The Separation series redefines the notorious term work/life balance as company employees voluntarily undergo a “separation” procedure in which their work-related memories are surgically separated from their personal lives. The author of the script and the creator of the series was “newcomer” Dan Erickson, who immediately after the pitch of the series at Apple’s head office went to work to deliver Postmates orders (one of the American analogues of Yandex.Food). Behind the scenes, Dan Erickson, introducing the series, admitted: “It was so strange that because I wrote a script about how much I hate working in an office, I got my dream job … Today, many work from home, literally work 10 feet from your bed. It was difficult for me to switch off myself, to tell myself that everything, five in the evening, I finished work for today, it’s hard when you do what you love. The series was directed and produced by Ben Stiller. For the filming of the series, he invited Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), with whom he previously worked on the film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and Patricia Arquette, with whom Stiller filmed the mini-series Escape from Dannemore Prison, to star in the series. ”, awarded four nominations for the Emmy Award, as well as legendary actors – John Turturro and Christopher Walken. Critics have already praised the new series – on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Separation has a rare 95% approval. On the eve of the premiere of the series, Kommersant Style met with the actors and creators of the series to find out what myths of corporate life the creators wanted to show in Separation, what the new series has in common with the cult Office, and what the life of the creators of the series would be like without them movies and series.
