Ilyas Kanchan, the celebrated hero of Dhakai movie, expressed his solidarity with the protestors demanding that the age limit for entry into government service should be 35. On Monday (September 30), the hero expressed solidarity with the job seekers in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the capital.

‘Today we have to stand here wet in the rain to get the demands of the children’

Ilyas Kanchan took to the streets with the national flag on his head. He urged the interim government to accept the demands quickly.

Ilyas Kanchan said, ‘The second freedom we got in exchange for the blood of our martyrs, we hoped there would be no discrimination. But unfortunately we have to stand here today in the rain to get the demands of our children. When I was not in contact with them, I still said that if one has one year of service left and if he has the qualifications then he can enter the service. No one can be restricted by age here. But unfortunately our children are facing discrimination. We hope that their reasonable demands will be accepted.’

Ilyas Kanchan said to the chief advisers and concerned, ‘Accept the demand of 35. Even if one has one year of service remaining, he will participate in the examination. Because I think age is not important here, a student will get his job with his talent and aptitude. They are not agitating for jobs, they do not want any sympathy from anyone. They only want their rights.’

Asking questions to those concerned, the actor said, ‘The change has come in the country today through the anti-discrimination student movement, so why is age discrimination still alive in the job? Why is their logical demand not being fulfilled so far?’
