The organizers of the Tokyo 2020 games reported 17 new coronavirus infections at the Olympics bringing the total number of infections from 1 July to 123. The organizing committee said in its daily briefing that a foreign athlete was among the new cases. The Tokyo area is under the fourth state of emergency for the coronavirus for the duration of the Olympics.
Dutch rower Finn Florijn tested positive for covid and placed in quarantine, as reported by the orange canoe association on Twitter. The 21-year-old athlete, yesterday in the water for the heats, must therefore give up the repechage.
