Tokyo Olympic champion Linoy Ashram retires at 22

This young Israeli has announced that she is starting her coaching career.

Israeli Olympic rhythmic gymnastics champion Linoy Ashram has announced her retirement at the age of 22, adding that she will take up a coaching role.

Linoy Ashram won individual all-around gold in Tokyo last year, breaking Russia’s stranglehold on the Olympic title that dated back to 2000.

«An athlete must know when to retire. I realized my dream. I will continue but on the other sideexplains this 22-year-old Israeli at a press conference. Linoy Ashram added that she will join the team of her former coach, Ayelet Sussman.

This gymnast has won six silver and five bronze medals across the 2017, 2018 and 2019 world championships, and notched two golds and a bronze at last year’s World Cup. She also won gold in the all-around at the European Championships in 2020.
