Tolkien what a success, over 80 thousand visitors. Sangiuliano rejoiced
A great achievement for ‘Tolkien. Man, Professor, Writer’, an exhibition conceived and promoted by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the University of Oxford and launched last November 15th at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome by the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, in the presence of the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, and the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni. The exhibition, between 15 November 2023 and 11 February 2024, recorded 80,226 visitors, of which 2,091 on the last day.
“Tolkien’s show was a remarkable success in terms of content, underlined by the great public participation, many more visitors than those who went to the National Gallery of Modern Art. The controversy that arose around this publication, even among those who want to criticize it, is also a good thing because when we discuss literature, it is always very good. In fact, there are some of Tolkien’s values: unity, friendship, the protection of nature and above all the protection of humanity, which the individual with his spirit of nihilism would like to destroy”, in the background of Sangiuliano.
The exhibition, after the first stop in Rome, will arrive in Naples at the Palazzo Reale from 15 March to 30 June and, after that, will also arrive in the cities of Turin and Catania.
