“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”
For the first time in the history of Tolkien adaptations, this trailer features perhaps the most whimsical Tolkien figure of all, Tom Bombadil.

As convincing as the backstories and as good as the idea to tell the story in this time of the Second Age instead of, as usual, the Third Age of the medieval fantasy world, the story itself is weak showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay seemed particularly interested in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” film, which is why they made an ominous Gandalf figure and a few proto-hobbits to the annoyance of hard-core Tolkienists; second, because of the annoying task of starting the game field, they forget about actually letting the game start. Compensation is possible, and at the Comic Con in San Diego, where the creators and the conference are really promoting the second season of “Dimensions of Power” for the first time, something like real understanding sounds. Among them: a war that is clearly motivated on many occasions (probably around the Elven kingdom of Eregion), the arch-villain Sauron in a new form of deception, a dangerous journey to the east Middle-earth (the unseen Rhûn) and finally the answer to the question: whether the nameless wizard is actually Gandalf or not.
But the real breaking news of the trailer is different: for the first time in the history of Tolkien adaptations, Tom Bombadil, perhaps the most amazing Tolkien figure of all, can be seen in this trailer. Tolkien himself called this forest sprite an unsolved mystery, which may also be due to the fact that Bombadil was the only pagan roaming around in the largely Catholic “Midlands”. Tom has grown up like the world and is closely connected to nature which is perhaps nature itself – a nature that is not interested in power or its rings and maybe not even in the good Lord. In view of this complexity, Peter Jackson quickly deleted Tom Bombadil from the trilogy of his cinema; By helping him make his long-delayed appearance, the series makers are making some ground with real Tolkienists.

On the other hand, the effective esthete Jackson also had his reasons for predicting Bombadil earlier.
