A few steps in space
Yes, the film will indeed be made: the preparation of its cosmic part is being developed with NASA and Elon Musk’s Space X group. And not only, for filming purposes, Tom Cruise will fly aboard the International Space Station (ISS), where certain scenes will be filmed, but he is also expected to leave the station for a short walk in the sidereal void. The actor/producer would thus be the first civilian in history to walk in space. Donna Langley also clarified that this feature film, already historic in more ways than one if it were to see the light of day, will take place mainly on Earth, but that a sequence involves the character being sent into the cosmos. embodied by Cruise, who finds himself in the position of being the only one who can save the world.

A role of composition for the star therefore, after having protected the planet from the apocalypse in War of the Worlds, Edge of Tomorrow and almost all of its Mission : Impossible. The Variety site specifies that for this adventure with multiple unknowns (and which will not fail to make people talk if it materializes), Cruise could receive between 30 and 60 million dollars as a headliner and producer interested in profits. Leaving for the stars, yes, losing the north, no!
