The upcoming two-Test series against Argentina holds significant weight for the Wallabies. A strong showing is essential for securing a top-six seeding in the upcoming World Cup draw. Argentina, currently seventh in the rankings, is just 1.45 points behind Australia.

“The players have reassembled after a few days break, following our two games in South Africa, and worked their way through a very warm week here in Townsville,” Schmidt said. “Los Pumas are a combative and skilled side, and they will be confident after their recent performances. We know we’re going to need to be at our very best on Saturday afternoon.”

Argentina has made three changes to their lineup following a historic win against New Zealand in Buenos Aires. Prop Joel Sclavi comes in for Pedro Delgado, Marcos Kremer replaces Juan Martin Gonzalez, and Santiago Carreras is in for the injured Tomas Albornoz.

Despite the emotional victory over the All Blacks, Argentina coach Felipe Contepomi insists his team remains focused. “Sport is a very engaging thing. The way I see it, I hate losing more than I love winning,” Contepomi stated.”So for me, it’s like [the party] lasts however long it lasts in that dressing room and then I get out and I’m already starting to think about the next job. So for us, it’s like starting from zero the following day. Since Sunday, after beating the All Blacks we’ve started from zero, we are preparing for Australia and we are trying to focus on being our best version.”
