Ten days after the brain aneurysm, caused by a stroke, which sent him into a coma, there is no more hope for Tom Sizemore and the family has been advised to disconnect the machinery that is keeping him alive. “Tom is still in the ICU in critical condition. The doctors have informed the family that there is no more hope and have recommended the decision for the end of life,” said his manager, Charles Lago, in a statement to Variety, explaining that the family is now evaluating the hypothesis and that a new press release will be released on Wednesday 1st March. “We ask for privacy to be respected during this difficult moment – concluded the manager – and we thank everyone for the hundreds of messages of support and prayers we have received”.
As mentioned, Sizemore fell ill last February 18 at his home in Los Angeles and, once transported to the hospital, his conditions immediately appeared very serious and he has been in a coma in intensive care since then. Born in Detroit 61 years ago, the actor rose to prominence for his tough-guy parts in a number of action films, including Natural Born Killers and Saving Private Ryan, and has worked with some of Hollywood’s most famous directors.
However, his career was marred by drug addiction (he was arrested several times for drug possession) and numerous attempts at rehabilitation (all failed), while in 2003 he was accused of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend Heidi Fleiss. After his lightning marriage to Maeve Quinlan from 1996 to 1999, Sizemore never remarried, but in 2005 he became the father of twins Jagger and Jayden, now 17, with Janelle McIntire.
