/ The Iraqi handball team fell, on Wednesday, in the second group, for the quarter-finals of the Asian Championship that qualifies for the World Cup.

The head of the Handball Federation, Ahmed Riyad, told Agency, “The team is in a strong group that includes the strongest Asian teams, as it will play the teams of South Korea, Bahrain, and Kuwait.”

Riyad added, “The competitions will resume tomorrow, Thursday, after the draw is made, and the Iraqi team will meet its South Korean counterpart tomorrow in the first confrontation.”

He continued: “In its second match, our team will face the hosts and fans, the Bahrain team, next Friday, and finally, the Kuwaiti team, on Sunday, the 21st of this month.”

Last Monday, the Iraqi handball team qualified for the main round of the 21st Asian Championship hosted by Bahrain, after two draws with Saudi Arabia, 31-31 goals, and Japan, 28-28 goals, and achieved a broad victory over the Indian team, 55-12 goals.
