Tomorrow’s Hearing on OPS Appeal in AIADMK General Committee Case Verdict

The Madras High Court has announced that the appeal filed by OPS against their previous ruling, which stated that there is no ban on the election of AIADMK General Secretary, will be heard on March 29. In a past AIADMK general committee meeting, resolutions were passed to abolish the posts of coordinator and co-coordinator, bring back the post of General Secretary, and appoint Edappadi Palaniswami as the interim General Secretary. Panneerselvam and his supporters filed cases against these resolutions and demanded a ban on the announced elections for the post of AIADMK General Secretary. Judge K. Kumareshbabu gave a verdict, ordering that the resolutions of the AIADMK general body will go, and that there is no ban on the election of AIADMK General Secretary. OPS appealed this decision, which will be heard on March 29.

Chennai: AIADMK general committee resolutions will go. A two-judge bench of the Madras High Court has announced that the appeal filed by the OPS against the Madras High Court ruling that there is no ban on the election of AIADMK General Secretary will be taken up for hearing tomorrow (March 29).

In the AIADMK general committee meeting held on July 11 last year, the posts of coordinator and co-coordinator were abolished. Resolutions were passed to bring back the post of General Secretary and to appoint Edappadi Palaniswami as the interim General Secretary.

Following this, Panneerselvam and his supporters filed cases in the Madras High Court against the resolutions passed to remove Panneerselvam, Vaidhyalingam, J.C.D. Prabhakar and others from the party and demanding a ban on the announced elections for the post of AIADMK General Secretary.

Judge K. Kumareshbabu heard these cases on March 22 for more than 7 hours. The judge adjourned the judgment of the case without specifying a date while senior lawyers appeared and argued in the case, namely OPS and EPS.

In this case, Judge K. Kumareshbabu gave a verdict in this case today (March 28) morning. In that judgment, he ordered that the resolutions of the AIADMK general body will go. AIADMK lawyers said that Madras High Court has ordered that there is no ban on the election of AIADMK General Secretary.

Following this, an appeal was filed by O. Panneer Selvam against this judgment. A two-judge bench has agreed to hear the case tomorrow (March 29).
