What are the best luxury car brands today?

Luxury cars are always in people’s minds. They even wonder if they became millionaires overnight, what would be the most expensive car they would buy.

Check out our list of the best luxury car brands in 2023:

10) Mercedes (Maybach)

Mercedes-Benz is not just a brand of high-end cars, but it still has some very luxurious models in its portfolio.

What we always remember when we talk about luxury is the S Class, the line of large sedans that has existed in the company since 1972, when the W116 was launched.

Today the current generation of the S-Class is the W223, revealed in September 2020. But we are here to talk about the Maybach models of the S-Class, which are even more luxurious than the regular S.

In 2014, Daimler announced the relaunch of the Maybach as a sub-brand of the Mercedes S-Class, for those who feel the S-Class isn’t upscale enough for their tastes.

If a 2023 Mercedes S580 costs $125,000 in the US, a Maybach S680 costs no less than $230,000, and that price can go much higher depending on the handpicked optional equipment.

9) Aston Martin

The use of Aston Martin models in 007 movies gradually gave the company an image of refinement mixed with performance in its high-end cars.

Owners of an Aston Martin don’t want to be taken in the backseat in complete peace and quiet. He wants to enjoy all the power of the brand’s sports V8 engines.

Current Aston Martin models include: DB11, DBS Superleggera, DBX, Vantage and Valkyrie.

Yes, not even Aston Martin resisted the SUV craze, with its DBX. It had its production started in July 2020, and features 3.0 turbo and 4.0 turbo engines, both from Mercedes.

8) McLaren

McLaren Artura
McLaren Artura

McLaren created its road car production arm in 1985, launching the McLaren F1 in 1992. In 2010, McLaren Cars was replaced by McLaren Automotive, and since then we’ve had lots and lots of wonderful supercar launches.

Its models can be separated into GT, sports (Artura and 570S), super sports (720S, 650S and 12C) and hyper sports (Senna, Speedtail, Elva, P1, F1 and Solus).

US prices are $229,500 for the Artura, $304,500 for the 720S and $203,500 for the GT.

In Brazil, there are ads ranging from BRL 1,500,000 for a 12C manufactured in 2012 to BRL 6,900,000 for a 720S 2020.

7) Koenigsegg

Koenigsegg models are as or more sporty than McLaren’s. But it turns out that they are much more exclusive. And this makes their prices incredibly higher.

No $300,000 here. The cheapest Koenigsegg model you can buy today is the Gemera, which costs a whopping $1.7 million.

The Jesko model, for example, costs US$2.8 million, and has a 5.0 V8 engine that delivers 1,600 horsepower when fueled with a mixture of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline.

You can’t even imagine how much the prices would be here in Brazil!

6) Pagani

Pagani, creator of Zonda and Huayra sports cars, is an Italian company (like so many others), created by Argentine Horacio Pagani.

Pagani’s luxury super sports cars are even more expensive than Koenigsegg’s, because with models made in such small quantities, prices have to be very high to pay all the costs and still make a profit.

The Pagani Huayra R model has a price of 3,092,000 dollars, which is more than 15 million reais in a direct conversion, not including the inflated prices of bananalandia!

5) Bugatti

Bugatti Centodieci

Bugatti, founded in France by the Italian Ettore Bugatti, is that company remembered for the EB110 model by those who are now aged around 30 to 40 years old, but known by the current Veyron and Chiron by the younger ones.

This older company lived only between 1909 and 1963. It was revived from 1987 to 1995 by Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli and revived again in 1998 when it was bought by the Volkswagen Group.

It goes without saying that the 16-cylinder models created under VW’s wings (Veyron and Chiron) are the epitome of luxury and performance, with their base prices of over 1.5 million euros for the Veyron and 2.4 million of euros for the Chiron.

4) Lamborghini

Here prices are more friendly, starting at $225,000 for an Urus and going up to $556,000 for the Aventador Ultimae Roadster.

And in terms of luxury, we have to give up and recognize that they are not very luxurious models, after all, the Urus is nothing more than an Audi Q8, which costs a modest 70,000 US dollars.

Even so, Lamborghini are so fixed in the popular imagination that when people get rich, many soon think about buying one.

3) Ferrari

Ferrari SF90 Stradale

Ferrari is one of the best luxury car brands even though it doesn’t have such stratospheric prices as some seen above.

We have new Ferrari models priced in the US$240,000 range, such as the Ferrari Roma and Ferrari Portofino, rising to over US$2 million for a Ferrari Daytona SP3.

But the brand is undeniably a master of marketing. Even with some of the brand’s models having mechanical reliability problems, others having internal finishing problems, the dream of millions of people continues to be to own a Ferrari someday.

But this is very difficult here in Brazil, where we have ads for models like the 812 GTS and SF90 for amounts above R$ 8 million.

And things got even worse after the pandemic. An F360 with a Fipe list price in the range of R$ 600,000, that is, one of the cheapest used Ferraris currently, has ads for more than 1 million!

Bentley appears here in second place, as it has models that are truly made with the purpose of the article’s title, to be luxury cars, of high refinement, of extreme comfort. No accelerations and absurd top speeds. Just luxury.

The company, which bears the surname of its creator Walter Bentley, was born in 1919, and since then has remained specialized in luxury and comfort models.

Like Bugatti, it was bought by the Volkswagen Group in 1998, and today has three models in its lineup: the Bentayga SUV (196,000 to 262,000 dollars), the traditional Continental GT (256,000 to 322,000 dollars) and the Flying Spur sedan (208,000 to $313,000).

In Brazil, the few new Bentley advertisements on the internet ask between R$2,800,000 and R$4,900,000 for their models.

1) Rolls-Royce

And of course Rolls-Royce could not fail to be at the top of this list, the very first place. After all, whenever we talk about luxury cars, it’s one of the brands that immediately comes to mind.

It was created in 1904, and since 2003 it has been a subsidiary of BMW. Its wonderful models today boil down to the Ghost and Phantom sedans, along with the Cullinan SUV.

In the USA the prices of these models are: 343,000 dollars for the Ghost, 346,000 dollars for the Cullinan and 550,000 dollars for the Phantom, the company’s top of the line model. But these prices can be multiplied by two depending on the options.

There is talk of values in the range of R$ 6 million for the new Ghost in Brazil, and it must be right there, as we saw a car year 2013 for R$ 2,700,000. It’s not for everyone!
