We return once again with a new top but this time we will talk about very bad games, so bad that you should avoid at all costs

Bad games have always existed and on all consoles. Even one bad game nearly destroyed our beloved industry (yes ET, that’s you). For this reason, after making two tops talking about good and undervalued games, now it’s the turn of those not so good games and when you have them in your hands you seriously rethink your life. Hardly anyone likes bad games but I have to admit a guilty pleasure. I am part of that small percentage that likes bad games, I am amused by their failures and poorly implemented controls. After these harsh statements, I must say that with many titles that you will see on the list, I have enjoyed playing them. It’s like watching a movie on a Sunday afternoon, they are very bad, but it’s a good thing that you wear it to take a good nap. It should be remembered that the top is ordered randomly, so the game that ranks first is not necessarily the worst. After all this, here we go with the new top:

10. Ride to Hell: Retribution

We start with a typical one of these lists, but it must be yes or yes. Ride to Hell: Retribution is a game introduced in 2008 and was being developed by former members of Rockstar. The title was going to be about action and driving in the open world, like GTA, but controlling a member of a motorcycle gang. Something went wrong, and soon after the title was cancelled. But in 2013, Deep Silver and developer Eutechnyx brought the project back, launching it that same year, trading the open world for a more direct and linear adventure. The result is simply outrageous. Outdated graphics, bugs everywhere, poorly implemented and boring gameplay and some simply embarrassing sex scenes. It seems that the developers took an alpha of the canceled title, added two or three bad things to it, and released a product for €69.99. Just embarrassing.

9. Drake of the 99 Dragons

Drake of the 99 Dragons is a game that is somewhat unknown to the general public, but it better stay that way. This action-adventure title was released in the year 2003 for the original Xbox and received some very totally bad reviews. Before making this top, I remembered this game for how bad it seemed to me and took a look at its average on Metacritic, and it is the lowest rated game on the Original Xbox. It doesn’t surprise me at all. The game was developed by Idol FX and published by Majesco Entertainment.

In our adventure we control Drake, a murderer from the gang of 99 dragons who is betrayed in a robbery. The story isn’t bad at all, but where the title fails miserably is in the gameplay. Drake will be able to control two pistols with two hands, but each pistol will be controlled with a different button and stick. This makes the aiming system very awkward and chaotic. The title could be classified as practically unplayable. The graphics weren’t outstanding for the time it was released either, in addition to having a multitude of bugs.

8. Fighter Within

Plainly speaking, the start of Xbox One was a mess, and the mandatory Kinect with the console was one of the biggest reasons. Well, Fighter Within is one more example of those bad decisions. This title published and developed by Ubisoft was a complete nonsense. Fitter Within came out in 2013 together with the new Microsoft console, Xbox One. It was only possible to play with the Kinect movement detector, which was included with the console. And this would be his Achilles heel. The movements we made with our body were not detected correctly and it made playing this game a complete nightmare.. Also, due to its low offer of modes and fighters, it made us sick of the game out of boredom after a couple of hours (if not before due to its gameplay). Kinect had a lot of possibilities, but they were executed really poorly.

7. Amy

Amy is a clear example of what could have been and was not. The title developed by the French company VectorCell and published by Lexis Numérique did not meet (or even come close to) the expectations generated. When Amy was presented to the public, she caused a very good sensation, in addition to quite high expectations that were not finally met.

The game had some great ideas, but they were fatally executed. Amy was a survival horror title with touches of action and stealth. In her story we will control Lana, a woman who must protect Amy, an 8-year-old autistic girl, from a world submerged in chaos, since a strange infection has hit the population. The story wasn’t bad, mixing survival with corporate conspiracies, but it failed in everything else, both graphics and sound, going through lousy gameplay, where most of the times we died because of the game’s problems, and not ours.. A pity, since this Amy painted very well.

6. Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis

Aquaman: Battle of Atlantis is a fat fat nonsense. And it is that this title starring the marine superhero does nothing right. The game was released in 2003 on the Original Xbox and developed by Lucky Chicken, who didn’t have a very good resume to be honest. With this background everything went wrong. The graphics were horrible, bad even for a PS1, lacking in history and what is worse, a very bad gameplay. The game was about swimming through the seas of Atlantis, with a totally lousy control, finding a series of enemies, fighting (mechanics that were not saved either) and repeating again. That is to say, after playing 30 minutes you had already seen everything that the title could offer. A perfect game to accompany ET in the New Mexico desert.

5. Gene Rain

To be honest I haven’t played Gene Rain, but when I informed my writing colleagues about the topic of this top, my colleague Miguel Osorio brought me up to date on this game. And after reading his analysis and seeing gameplays of the title, I said, this must be added at all costs. The only salvageable thing about Gene Rain and what it seems that its developer of Chinese origin Deeli Network has spent the entire budget on is the graphic aspect. The dubbing is embarrassing, sound effects that are conspicuous by their absence, and gameplay that imitates Gears but doesn’t even reach shoe height.. I have been able to verify all this myself just by watching two gameplays of the game, but if you want more information about the title, Miguel talks about it in more detail in his analysis. The truth is that I have a crazy desire to buy it and see how bad it is.

4. Horse Racing 2016

Yes my dear readers, what you can see above is an Xbox One game. Here a server bought this game for €1.99 because it had achievements that were supposedly easy to get. But when I put myself at the controls of such an aberration, the 2 or 3 hours it took me to get its 1000G seemed like millennia. There is nothing good in this game, its graphics are nauseating and its gameplay feverish. The game consists of pressing the A button like crazy to win the race and, when our horse gets tired, stop pressing it for a few seconds to do it again when it is rested, repeating this until you complete all the tracks in the game. Everything is ugly in this game, PS1 graphics, no sound… Even the HUD is ugly, with that horse that looks more like the donkey from the Emule download program than a horse.

3. Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons

The Double Dragon saga returned to Xbox 360 in somewhat embarrassing fashion. Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons was launched in 2012 as a remake of the second installment of the famous saga of me against the neighborhood. What could have been a great revision of a classic from bygone eras ended up being one of the worst games ever. The game performed abysmal, almost becoming unplayable. It had completely outdated graphics that seemed to have been done with reluctance. But the worst thing and what seems most serious to me personally is what they did with the gameplay. The Korean developer Gravity simplified the combat to the maximum, so rIt was totally boring and totally inferior to the original title. Also, the controls were unresponsive and the animations were complete rubbish.. Just by improving the gameplay a little and implementing graphics to match it would have been a good game. Sometimes the developers seem to make bad decisions on purpose.

2. Batman: Dark Tomorrow

If we currently ask our readers for the best video game based on a superhero that exists, the majority answer would be any game in the Batman Arkham saga. But before the Rocksteady Studios job, the Batman had a shady past. Batman: Dark Tomorrow was launched in 2003 and DC Comics, fed up with bringing really bad games to the market, wanted to make a much more ambitious and good video game with this Batman, but everything went wrong. The development was carried out by Kemco and this was a complete disaster. The game came out only for GameCube and Xbox, with the PS2 version even being canceled due to the status of the title. The biggest problem with this game was its controls. And is that Batman: Dark Tomorrow was a mix between Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid. We controlled Batman with very orthopedic tank-type controls, with very basic and bad combat. Stealth was also terrifying. The only salvageable thing was his story.

1. Fast & Furious: Showdown

Fast & Furious: Showdown was released in 2013 for Xbox 360 taking advantage of the theatrical release of the sixth film in the famous car saga. Video games based on movies and TV series usually have low quality (others don’t). I particularly like these types of games. They are entertaining for an afternoon and if they are at a low price, they are recommended. But this title is a real horror. It is a racing and action video game, with chases, escapes and impossible jumps, but everything is fatally resolved. The graphics are worth for example. A game from the latest batch of Xbox 360 that looked like a PS2 launch. The controls were horrible, the vehicles handled terrible and the action scenes were solved with QTE. But the most negative aspect of Fast & Furious: Showdown was the AI. It was very easy to complete the game (which lasted 2 hours) since our opponents looked like chimpanzees, making the whole adventure very boring. Years later, Fast & Furious: Crossroads was also released on Xbox One, another lousy title in the saga, but this one at hand is even worse.

And here comes this new personal top of the worst games available on all Xbox consoles released so far. I have left many titles in the dark as they can be Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, Soda Drinker Pro o Infernal Hell´s Vengeance, although we will leave the door open to a possible second part. And the thing is that there are many good games, but there are also bad ones. From ComunidadXbox we would love to know which are the worst video games that our readers have played, so do not hesitate to let us know.
