The stories of sci-fi author Philip K. Dick have already made some big Hollywood films, now “Creed III” star Michael B. Jordan is taking care of the next one. The author of “Iron Man 3” is also involved in the project for Amazon.

Disney and its affiliates

2018 was a good year for fans of science fiction films and Michael B. Jordan: First, Jordan fought as Erik Killmonger against Marvel’s first black superhero Black Panther, and a few months later fans got to see him again – as a book-burning firefighter in the film adaptation of Sci-fi classic “Fahrenheit 451”. The promising combination of science fiction and Michael B. Jordan is now entering the next round: With his production company Outlier Society, the “Creed III” star is currently developing a new sci-fi action thriller for Amazon’s MGM Studios.

“T-Minus”: In the footsteps of “Blade Runner” & Co.?

Plot details for “T-Minus” are still under wraps, but the film is based on the short story “A Little Something For Us Tempunauts” (known in Germany as “A Little Consolation for Us Temponauts”) by the famous American sci-fi Fi author Philip K. Dick.

The story, first published in 1974, is about three time travelers (the eponymous Temponauts) whose mission to travel 100 years into the future goes wrong. Instead, they get stuck in a time loop where they’re doomed to experience the same week over and over again – unless they find a way to escape it.

“T-Minus” could be the next big Hollywood film adaptation of a Philip K. Dick story. Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” was based on the novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”, Steven Spielberg turned the short story “Minority Report” into the futuristic thriller of the same name with Tom Cruise and Paul Verhoeven’s “Total Recall” was published by “memories en masse” inspired.

Authors with sci-fi experience

As the US industry magazine Deadline reports, the planned action thriller will be a mixture of “Top Gun” and “Back to the Future” – “with a Philip K. Dick twist”. Drew Pearce and Nick Cuse, who are writing the script, are taking care of this twist.

Pearce is familiar with futuristic action; in addition to the script for the upcoming stuntman film “The Fall Guy” with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, “Iron Man 3” was also penned by him. He also co-wrote the films “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” and “Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw” with Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba. Co-author Nick Cuse co-wrote, among other things, the DC superhero series “Watchmen” from HBO.

Michael B. Jordan in the lead role?

It is not yet known who will film the whole thing and which faces will be in front of the camera. But if we look to the past to look to the future, there’s a good chance that Michael B. Jordan will make an appearance in the sci-fi action thriller. The last released films in which his production company Outlier Society was involved were called “Creed III – Rocky’s Legacy”, “A Journal For Jordan” and “Tom Clancy’s Mercyless” and had one thing in common: Michael B. Jordan in the lead role.
