Moscow: Lt. Col. Roman Malaik (49), a top military officer who was in control of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s move to deploy reserve troops to Ukraine, was found dead under mysterious circumstances. He was found dead in his home in a village in Russia’s Primorsky region.

It is reported that he hanged himself. The police are investigating whether it is a murder. The possibility of suicide has not been ruled out. There have been widespread protests in Russia following Putin’s order to deploy reserve troops to Ukraine.

There were also attacks on the offices to recruit such soldiers. Roman Malaik was also active in military operations in Chechnya. Family and friends say that he had no circumstances to commit suicide.
