Each edition of the Libertadores Cup has left us with a top scorer. In some cases, the first place was shared, but there were several who stood out above the average. One example is Argentine Daniel Onega, who became the highest scorer in history for a single edition, with 17 goals in 20 matches playing for River.
The Ecuadorian Alberto Spencer, who was the top scorer of the first Cup held in 1960, is also the overall highest scorer, with 54 goals. He scored 48 with Peñarol and added six more with Barcelona de Guayaquil.
The last Libertadores, from 2023, had Germán Cano as the top scorer, who excelled with 13 goals playing for Fluminense.
