The historic closing ceremony will take place as part of the gathering of Lubavitcher Rebbe emissaries in New York. After the celebration, the Torah books will be delivered to 36 Jewish communities around the world. It was announced the construction of 120 purification mikvahs in places that had not yet been granted this, the establishment of community libraries and the expansion of Jewish life in many continents

During the traditional salute to the thousands of Chabad emissaries, the Bankaet, which will be held early next week in New York, a record will be broken in a historic celebration of the completion of the writing of 36 elegant Torah scrolls.

In the annual salute, thousands of Lubavitcher Rebbe emissaries, as well as thousands of supporters from all over the world, participate. If every year the event fascinates all the participants, then this year, the completion of the writing of the 36 books of the Torah will give the event a unique and uplifting atmosphere.

The writing of the 36 books of the Torah was announced by the chairman of the ‘Vad Khinos’, Rabbi Moshe Kotlersky, at the Shluchim gathering last year, along with a series of projects, with the aim of expanding the Jewish activity, embracing the world, of the Shuluchi Rabbi ZIA. Thus, for example, it was announced the construction of 120 purification mikvahs in places that had not yet been granted this, the establishment of community libraries and the expansion of Jewish life in many continents.

One of the most prominent initiatives was, as mentioned, the writing of 36 Torah scrolls, with the aim of giving them to Jewish communities without their own books. With the announcement of the initiative, well-to-do Jews from around the globe asked to contribute their part to the historic initiative. Some of the books will be delivered to Chabad houses in Jamaica, Ibiza in Spain, Uganda, etc. After the completion of the writing of the 36 Torah books, there will be a public Torah raising ceremony, with sweeping dances by the thousands of emissaries and their supporters.

“For four years we worked on establishing our community,” says the Chabad emissary in Jamaica, Rabbi Jacob Raskin, who, together with his rabbi wife Moshka, runs the Chabad house on the island. The Chabad house in Jamaica will be one of the 36 Jewish communities that will receive the Torah book. “Now we are happy that we will finally receive our own Torah book. This will greatly contribute to our establishment and permanence, here, in the Jewish community in Jamaica.”

Rabbi Mandy Kotlersky, director of the global activities department of Chabad 302, says that “this is a historic moment for the 36 Jewish communities that thirst for the Torah book and await it with great joy.”

The initial end date for writing the 36 books of the Torah was in the month of Nissan 2015, however, after great efforts, the scribes of the Satam managed to increase the pace and the new date is at the world meeting of the Shulechim that will open this weekend at the Rebbe’s court in New York – where the Rebbe’s emissaries will celebrate the incredible growth Perceived, despite the last difficult years, of the corona isolation and the war in Ukraine.

In just the past year, 120 new Chabad houses were established around the world, including in Zambia, Bermuda, and more. A significant part of the growth is attributed to Rabbi Rabbi Yekutiel Rohr, who was announced as the keynote speaker at the traditional greeting next Sunday.

“In this year, the year of the crowd,” said Rabbi Moshe Kotlersky, “we will do as much as we can to facilitate the growth of Jewish communities around the world. We will continue to push more and more initiatives, with the goal of connecting every Jew in the light of the Torah and mitzvot.”
