The Northern Tornado Project confirmed on Sunday that a tornado did indeed touch down in southwestern Ontario late Saturday morning.

The weather event affected the Ayr region near Kitchener, about 1.5 hours from Toronto.
According to Environment Canada, this would have been a Category EF1 tornado.
Multiple images captured in the area showed uprooted trees, damaged homes, torn off roofs and destroyed structures.
A video even captured a funnel forming over the small Ontario municipality.
Southern Ontario received a fair amount of rain on Saturday.
Environment Canada reports that Toronto received 128 mm of rain over a 24-hour period.
Streets were reportedly flooded in Mississauga as well.
This system is moving toward Quebec and will bring heavy rainfall from Sunday evening into Monday morning.
About thirty millimetres of rain is expected in Greater Montreal, but the storm could push that number to around forty millimetres, Environment Canada warns.
