On Saturday, the maximum reached 38°C in Grenoble and Montélimar, 37 to 38°C in the Lyon area, 36°C in Toulouse, Annecy and Montauban, according to the forecaster’s readings.

And it’s not over… This Sunday, the temperatures are still rising and will generally reach 35 to 38°C south of an axis Angoulême, Bourges, Colmar, that is to say a large southern part and east of the country, announces Météo France. We expect 38 to 39°C in the south of Toulouse and up to 40 to 41°C towards the lower Rhône valley between Montélimar, Nîmes and Carpentras.

On Monday, comparable or even slightly higher temperatures are expected. It should be noted that the minimums will be significantly higher over the Mediterranean midday with sometimes values not falling below 26 to 27°C during the night from Sunday to Monday.

Sudden drop in temperatures on Thursday?

These very high temperatures will continue until the middle of next week. Then, a drop in temperatures is expected from Thursday, “but all of this remains to be confirmed”, tempers Météo France. The Weather Channel, which also remains cautious, also evokes a probable sudden drop in temperatures from next Thursday, with literally a “passage to autumn in 48 hours”, with the arrival of a “cold drop” which would considerably cool the atmosphere…
