From the 2nd (Tuesday) to April 18th (Thursday), we will hold the “Thirty One Flavor Contest” on a special website where you can freely combine flavors, toppings, and ribbons to create your own original flavor. We received 302,501 entries, far exceeding the total of 190,000 entries submitted in 2017)! From among them, we conducted a strict review and decided on the 10 outstanding flavors for the “Thirty One Flavor Contest”!! The period from May 9th (Thursday) “Ice Cream Day” to May 19th (Sunday) , a vote will be held to determine the best work from among these excellent works.
In 1964, the year the Tokyo Olympics were held, the Tokyo Ice Cream Association (predecessor to the Japan Ice Cream Association) designated May 9th, the end of the ice cream season, as “Ice Cream Day.” Its origin comes from holding an ice cream festival. Since then, May 9th of every year has been observed as Ice Cream Day.
