jpnn.comJAKARTA – Member of the Indonesian Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Totok Hariyono reminded his staff in the regions to be careful and detailed in supervising the requirements for regional head nominations, both from independent candidates and political parties.

He conveyed this when closing the Technical Working Meeting on the Resolution of Election Disputes for the Election of Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, Mayor and Deputy Mayor in 2024 in Makassar.

He emphasized that Bawaslu has the responsibility to supervise, prevent, and take action against any violations in the election and selection stages.

“We must supervise every stage in detail and that is our duty as election supervisors. Especially for the current nomination stage for individual support, researchers must be really supervised,” Totok emphasized in a statement quoted on Monday (12/8).

He asked the Bawaslu in the regions to really monitor whether the candidates are worthy and have met the requirements as individual candidates for the 2024 Pilkada or not.

“If he is not worthy or has violated the law, then don’t make it easy. Please don’t waste the people’s trust and the people’s dream of getting honest voters who do not violate the law,” he said.

Furthermore, Totok said that Bawaslu in the regions must also carry out careful supervision of participants from political parties.

He asked the Bawaslu in the regions to ensure that all candidates have met the candidate requirements and nomination requirements in accordance with existing regulations.
