(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 15 – Tottenham Hotspur have suspended Yves Bissouma for one match after the Malian media filmed himself inhaling nitrous oxide, a “laughing gas” with psychoactive effects. Coach Ange Postecoglou announced. The former Lille and Brighton player will miss the first match of the Premier League season against Leicester on Monday. “We have suspended him for Monday’s match,” Postecoglou said at a press conference. Last Saturday, Bissouma posted a video on Snapchat in which he appears inhaling “laughing gas” with a balloon. Possession of nitrous oxide for recreational use has been a crime since 2023 in the United Kingdom and can carry a two-year prison sentence. The 27-year-old apologised for this “serious lapse in judgement” in a statement. “He must re-establish trust with me and with the group,” Postecoglou commented, while assuring that the door remains “open” for the Malian international. “We can help him understand that the decisions he makes have an impact on the group,” he added.
