A “security operation” was underway on Sunday afternoon at the Toulouse stadium and the kick-off of the Ligue 1 Toulouse-Nantes match was therefore delayed to 4:30 p.m., said the club from the pink city.

Access to the Stadium was prohibited around 2.30 p.m. and spectators already installed were asked to evacuate the premises while security personnel, accompanied by dogs, inspected the part of the bend which was to accommodate the Nantes supporters, noted a AFP journalist present on site.

«Following a security operation currently underway in the stands of the Stadium, kick-off is delayed to 4:30 p.m. Access to the stands should be possible from 3:30 p.m.“Said Toulouse FC on its Twitter page.

Thousands of supporters – some 28,000 spectators expected in the 31,500-seat enclosure according to the club – were calmly waiting around the Stadium, AFP noted, adding that a crisis unit with Damien Comolli, president of the TFC and Olivier Jaubert, general manager of the club, had been meeting since 2:30 p.m. in the heart of the stadium.

The Haute-Garonne prefecture was to communicate a little later in the afternoon, she told AFP.
