As in 2022, the 176 riders entered in the Tour de France this summer will share an overall prize pool close to 2.3 million euros (2,282,000 million euros precisely), divided between general classification, stage classification, intermediate sprints and distinctive jerseys.

Thus, the successor to Dane Jonas Vingegaard, winner of the race last year, will receive 500,000 euros. His runner-up in the general classification will be awarded a bonus of 200,000 euros while the third will leave with a bonus of 100,000 euros. In addition, the wearer of the yellow jersey will have a bonus of 500 euros on the days when he runs with the leader’s tunic. As for the other distinctive jerseys (the green jersey for the best sprinter, the white jersey with red dots for the best climber and the white jersey for the best young person), the sum will be 300 euros.

Still concerning the distinctive jerseys, the runners who enter the Champs-Elysées with the green and polka dot jerseys will leave with 25,000 euros, while the best young rider will be rewarded with 20,000 euros.

To win the white jersey with red polka dots, climbers accumulate points when they climb to the top of the various cols listed throughout the race. Bonuses are also distributed to them according to the difficulty of the pass crossed. Thus, the runner who first crosses an off-category climb will win 800 euros, the second 450 euros and the third 300 euros. The first category passes are endowed with 650 euros and the sum goes down to 200 euros for a difficulty of the fourth category.

The sprinters, for their part, glean points and bonuses during the various intermediate sprints scattered throughout the course. The sum is 1500 euros for the first, 1000 euros for the second and 500 euros for the third.

But the peloton will also be able to benefit from bonuses via stage victories. Each of the 21 events of this Tour de France 2023 will be worth the same price: 11,000 euros for the rider who raises his arms, 5,500 euros for the second and 2,800 euros for the third man to cross the line.

Many other special bonuses will be offered to riders: the winner of the prize for the most combative of the Tour will leave with 20,000 euros, against 2,000 for the most combative of each stage. The Henri-Desgrange souvenir prize, gleaned by the rider who will cross the Col de la Loze in the lead, during the 17th stage, will be endowed this year with 5,000 euros, as will the Jacques-Goddet souvenir, prize awarded to whoever passes at the head of the Col du Tourmalet (6th stage).
