Tour of the Basque Country: Jumbo-Visma rider Milan Vader in critical condition after a fall

According to the first diagnoses reported by the press in his country, 26-year-old Milan Vader, who is playing his first season in the colors of Jumbo-Visma, suffers from several broken vertebrae, a broken collarbone and an equally broken shoulder blade. He was also hit in the carotid artery. Since his arrival at the hospital at the end of the afternoon, the young runner has been placed under artificial sleep. His parents have been notified and they are on their way from northern Europe to go to his side, proof that the seriousness of his injuries is taken very seriously by the medical profession.

At the end of the evening on April 8, his Jumbo-Visma team declared on Twitter that the runner was in “stable” condition. “Bilbao Hospital is taking great care of Milan, we will give you news tomorrow (Saturday)”, specifies the Dutch team.

Milan Vader, who had a good start to the season, took 10th place in the mountain bike event at the last Tokyo Olympics. He is also a double Dutch cyclo-cross champion.
